Q. Who Should Wear
Tuxedos in the Wedding?
A. It is customary for all male members of the Wedding Party to wear Tuxedos.
This would include the Groom, Best Man, Ushers or Groomsmen, Ringbearer and
Fathers of the Bride and Groom. Having Grandfathers wear Tuxedos is a perfect
way to make them an important part of the special occasion.
Q. Should Everybody Wear the Same Tuxedos and Accessories?
A. There is no set formula here. It should be a matter of what you feel most
comfortable with, and what suits the style of your wedding. One factor is how
the group will look all lined up in pictures. Another factor is how the brides
and bridesmaids dresses relate to one another. There are many possible
combinations. In some weddings all the gentlemen are outfitted the same. In some
the Groom and Ringbearer are the same and the others differ slightly. Sometimes
the Groom's attire is slightly different while the Groomsmen match the
bridesmaid's colors and the fathers are different. This is something that your
Tuxedo Station Shop associate can help you decide.
Q. Is There a Certain Style of Tuxedo I Should Wear
Depending On The Time of Day The Wedding Takes Place?
A. If you are a traditionalist and do plan on following etiquette to help you in
your wedding plans, then Yes, there are specific styles of formal wear to
choose. For daytime weddings, before 5:00 pm, the classic cutaway or stroller
length coat with coordinating ascot or four in hand ties is appropriate. If your
wedding is taking place in the evening, your choice is a more classic style
black tuxedo jacket in either single or double breasted. For very formal evening
weddings you would choose a full dress tail coat with a white tie and vest. When
it comes to formal wear etiquette keep in mind; This is your wedding! The formal
wear you select should be styles that fit the wedding and more importantly
styles that suit you and your fiancé. Being comfortable with your choices will
allow you to feel more relaxed on your wedding day, and will be reflected in
your pictures for years to come.
Q. How Long Prior To The Wedding Should I Make
Arrangements For My Tuxedos?
A. We suggest that six months before the wedding date, you visit formal wear
specialists to review styles. At Tuxedo Station Shop this is the time for you to
arrange your personal "Groom Try On" appointment. After you have
decided upon the styles (at least 3 to 4 months prior to the wedding) register
your group by leaving the names of your party members and the styles you want
each to wear. Next is a time for all the men to be fitted. Pick up "Out of
Town" fitting cards for those who live out of the area. 3 to 4 weeks prior
to the wedding, make sure that all members of your group have been fitted at the
shop most convenient for them and that all "out of Town" fitting cards
are received.
Q. When Does
Everybody Need To Be Fitted?
A. As a general rule of thumb all your groomsmen should complete their initial
fittings at least 1 month prior to your wedding day. Feel free to push that date
back to 6 - 8 weeks prior, giving you and your fiancé peace of mind.
Coordinating all the proper sizes and styles takes time so having everybody fit
in ample time is very important.
Q. Some Of My Party Members Are Hard To Fit. Can You Still
Help Them?
A.Yes! Tuxedo Station Shop carries an extensive inventory in sizes ranging from
a boys size 3 to a mens size 70 Long. We also carry husky boys sizes and a true
body builders fit in select classic tuxedo styles. Our motto for years has been
"We Can Fit Anyone!"
Q. Who Pays For The Tuxedos?
A. This is a matter of preference for each family. However according to our
experience, in most cases each individual party member pays for his own outfit.
Q. When Can I Pick Up My Tuxedo Before The Wedding?
A. At Tuxedo Station Shop, tuxedos are ready for final fitting and pick up after
3 PM, 2 days prior to the wedding, as long as measurements are received on time
(3 weeks prior to the wedding). We strongly encourage all party members to honor
this final fitting / pick up date so as to allow time for any fitting
adjustments that may be needed.
Q. Do I Need To "Try On" My Tuxedo When I
Pick It Up?
A. As perfect as we would like to think we are when it comes to
measuring, a final fitting should be required for you and all of your groomsmen.
Different designs fit differently just like the jeans you buy at department
stores. Though this variation may be slight at times it is always better to be
safe. Would the bride buy her gown, have the alterations performed and never try
it on again? NEVER! It is no different for you and your groomsmen. We know how
busy brides and grooms can be the days before the event, but if you don't set
time aside for your final fittings, the formal wear specialists can't complete
their job to make you look great.
Q. When Do I Need To Return My Tuxedo?
A. Tuxedos are scheduled for return the day after the event. If for some
reason that is not possible, just let the formalwear shop know of your situation
prior to pick-up and they should be able to extend your return date. Additional
rental charges may apply for items not returned on time,
